Our System
The system we teach is called Mugendo (Unlimited Way). Our style of Mugendo is called Mu Do Kai and involves a complete martial arts system. For a brief history click here.
The MuDoKai Karate children's curriculum that we teach is specifically designed to teach kids how to focus and concentrate, how to pay attention and how to listen to directions and follow them. Children develop confidence, discipline and self-control, while getting into great shape and learning self-defense skills.

For Adult students we address training from three perspectives:
1) Personal Growth, including physical, emotional and psychological development using Martial Arts as a medium for practice.
2) Fitness, including cardio, stamina, flexibility and agility. Fitness Kickboxing Classes are included on Tuesdays at 6:45PM and Thursdays at 6:45PM .
3) Self Defense, including defense against unarmed and armed assailants, multiple attack and ground fighting strategies.

Sensei Carmine Downey (5th Dan Black Belt) teaches for the department of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF). Sensei Neal Fleisig (2nd Dan Black Belt) developed the Professional Crisis Management system for use by educators and human service providers who are serious about the crisis management of aggressive, disruptive and self-injurious behaviors. All are students of Shihan Robert Mason at the University Karate Center.
